Taylor Swift 'definitely a factor' again in NFL schedule-making

The NFL is again planning to ride the Taylor Swift hype train during the 2024 season.

During a Thursday appearance on the "Up and Adams" podcast, NFL Director of Broadcasting Charlotte Carey discussed how the 14-time Grammy Award winner's concert schedule impacted the league's schedule-making process.

Swift has been in a relationship with Kansas City Chiefs star tight end Travis Kelce since last fall.

Host Kay Adams brought up the "theory going around" regarding the Chiefs schedule.

"They play in Buffalo on Nov. 17, same weekend that Taylor Swift is performing in nearby Toronto," Adams said. "You tell me. Some fans think this was intentional. Are you saying it was a coincidence?"

Carey initially remained tight-lipped about the situation, saying "I'll let you decide, Kay," but then expanded.

"There are (music) tours and things, as there are every year, and it always gets harder and harder, and more things happen. Taylor actually is coming back to the U.S. during our football season and has a couple of blocks in there too," Carey said. "At the end of the day, we still need to be able to play football in all of the weeks that we actually need to be home and play football. There wasn't one tour that came through that was completely egregious and really set us kind of on our seats there, but no, Taylor's definitely a factor this year also."

Rumors of a "Love Story" between Kelce and Swift began swirling late last summer and chatter began to grow early in the fall. Those rumors were all but confirmed in late September when Swift and "Mama Kelce" nearly broke the internet, as the duo was spotted sitting together during the Chiefs' Week 3 home contest against the Chicago Bears.

"Traylor" was seen leaving Arrowhead Stadium together after Kansas City's win against Chicago, unofficially marking the start of their relationship.
