Philadelphia Eagles' 2024 NFL schedule analysis

At long last, the 2024 NFL regular-season schedule has been released and the Eagles are already in way better shape than they were a year ago.

Last year, Philadelphia opened the season with the league’s-most difficult schedule per NFL research. This year, they’re tied with the Colts for the league’s 21st-toughest schedule, facing opponents with a combined .491 winning percentage in 2023.

Here’s what stands out about the schedule.

Circle the date | Week 17, vs. Dallas: Cowboys-Eagles games are always a big deal, but in all likelihood this late-December game could determine the next NFC East champion. Eight of the last 10 division titles have gone to either Dallas or Philadelphia, and barring a C.J. Stroud-like year from Washington QB Jayden Daniels, stakes for this game should be high.

Toughest stretch | Week 1 through Week 10: Although Philadelphia technically opens its season as the home team against Green Bay, they’ll travel 4,756 miles to Sao Paulo, Brazil for the matchup.

After that it’s home for a Monday night game against the Falcons, the only game played in Philadelphia before a Week 5 bye. From Weeks 6-10, the team has just two games in Lincoln Financial Field while facing quarterbacks like Joe Burrow, Trevor Lawrence, Dak Prescott and Deshaun Watson.

Easiest stretch | Week14 through Week 18: On the bright side, Philadelphia couldn’t ask for a better slate of games to end their regular season. After back-to-back road games against the Rams and Ravens, the Eagles return home to face the 2-16 Carolina Panthers, then welcome Russell Wilson’s Steelers before traveling to Washington to play the last-place Commanders.

The aforementioned Dallas game could be tough, but playoff seeds could be set before the season finale at home against the Giants, making the last game irrelevant.

Revenge game | Week 4: Tampa Bay handed the Eagles a 32-9 loss in last year’s wild-card game, ending Philadelphia’s 2023 season at Raymond James Stadium.

Philadelphia managed only three first downs and 276 yards that day, 42 on the ground. The defense allowed three touchdowns from Baker Mayfield. Things should be different in 2024 with new offensive coordinator Kellen Moore and former Buccaneers linebacker Devin White on the team.
